Freak accident: Man survives being impaled by gardening shears

This is the horific xray photo of Leroy Luetscher an 86 years old man who got impaled by a garden shear. He lost his balance and fell on the gardening equipment which went through his eye socket and into his throat.

Luckily he was rushed to Tucson's University Medical Center, where surgeons removed the pruning shears. The also rebuilt his orbital floor with metal mesh, and even managed to save his eye.

Four weeks later. He is healed except for some swelling and minor damage to the eye.
